GOA GETS ITS FIRST SOLAR POWERED FOOD CARTS

Calangute (Goa): In the first of its kind, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has introduced solar-powered food carts at the just-launched Food Court in the very popular coastal village of Baga. A total of 18 carts was launched that served Goan delicacy local breed Chicken Xacuti to its customers. 
GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral said the stalls will prioritize preparing and serving Goan delicacies to the customers, in a bid to keep Goa’s cuisines alive. “Goa is a tourist destination and Baga, being a popular tourist hot spot, the Food Carts will be a special attraction. The unique cuisines will be a special feature,” he said. 
The GTDC has leased out the carts to local entrepreneurs as it also plans to expand the concept to Calangute-Sinquerim belt, which is also amongst favourite tourist location. 
Deputy Speaker and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo claimed the concept will boost self-employment while also play an important role to preserve authentic Goan cuisines.
