GOA: GOA FORMS TEAM OF FOUR OFFICERS TO MONITOR POSSIBLE WORK ON MHADEI

Panaji (Goa): Goa government has finally formed a team of its four officers from Water Resources Department to keep a check whether any fresh activity is taking place in the areas where Maharashtra and Karnataka has planned a dam upstream Mhadei river.

Water Resources Department’s Chief Engineer S T Nadkarni, in an order issued, has notified the formation of the four member committee, comprising of the officers from his department.

“As directed by the Government, a team of engineers is hereby constituted to constantly watch over and monitor periodically, any work, if carried out on the Mhadei river or its tributaries in Maharashtra as well as Karnataka,” Nadkarni has said.

He has said that the team shall instantly report, if any construction activity is envisaged or started by Karnataka or Maharashtra in Mhadei basin.

“A periodical report every fortnight should be submitted to the government. The team shall visit the site at least two times a week,” the order reads.
