Panaji (Goa): The State Government has selected Goa Traffic Constable Zubear Momin for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Republic Day tomorrow.
Momin joined the department as a Police Constable on April 1, 1999, and underwent basic training at Police Training School, Valpoi. After successfully completing the training he was posted at GRP, Altinho. In 2003 he was posted at Traffic Education Cell to impart Basic Computer Training to the wards of Police personnel.
Appreciating his potential and capability of work he was attached to the Office of SP (Traffic) where he proved his worth and has worked to the best satisfaction of his superiors. During his tenure so far, the recipient of the prestigious award has worked under direct supervision of officers of the rank of Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police and Police Inspectors.
The Goa Police Department in appreciation of his good work done in various fields has rewarded him from time to time. In the year 2015 in recognition of his valuable contribution and devotion to duty, he has been awarded DGP’s INSIGNIA on Goa Police Raising Day. In the year 2016, he was awarded Chief Minister’s Police (Gold) Medal for meritorious service. TO his credit, Momin, presently posted at Traffic Headquarters in the office of SP (Traffic) has also been instrumental in drafting major traffic arrangement for the first International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa in the 2004 year and the exposition of St Francis Xavier in the 2014 year. He has served clean and unblemished career for over 18 years.
Goa is all set to celebrate Republic Day with State-Level Function to be held in Panaji wherein the Governor of Goa Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha will unfurl the national tricolour. The function will be graced by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Leader of Opposition, Judges of High Court, Advocate General and other dignitaries.
The Governor will later review the parade presented by the contingents of Army, Navy, Police, Home Guard, NCC and schools and address the gathering. The Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Police Training for the year 2014-2015 along with the Scroll will be awarded to Suraj M. Patil.
