Goa’s Uvena Fernandes became the first Indian to get officiating assignments at two World Cups. Having officiated as an assistant referee in the final of the Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup between Japan and DPR Korea in 2016, Uvena has now been selected to officiate at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in France from August 5-24.
Uvena was honoured with the Jivbadada Kerkar Award, earlier this year, Goa’s highest recognition for achievements in sports.
