Panaji (Goa): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today announced to introduce contract farming concept to boost and revamp the agriculture sector in the State.
“Person who knows the value of land will definitely contribute in the development of the village as well as the State,” Parrikar said after releasing the reports of Characterization and Mapping of Land Resource of Goa in reference to Cultivated and Fallow Land Use System held at Krishi Bhavan in Caranzalem.
Chief Minister said that Government intends to introduce contract farming in the state with a view to increase agricultural production.
Minister for Agriculture Vijai Sardesai was also present on the occasion, which saw distribution of Soil Health Cards to the farmers.
While addressing the function, Sardessai said that it is the target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the income of farmers by 2022. “This Health Card will help farmers to get a good harvest by studying the quality of soil,” he said while exhorting that Goan farmer should take up organic farming with a view to boost their income and promote Goa’s brand of agricultural produce.
