The High Court of Bombay at Goa will today decide whether the National Green Tribunal will stay in Goa or will be allowed to shift to Delhi.
The court will hear a bunch of petitions filed by social activists against the order of Union Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, to shift National Green Tribunal’s jurisdiction of Goa, from Pune to Delhi.
The court had earlier asked the Goa government to file its affidavit in the matter while the union government had already filed its affidavit in which they had not ruled out the possibility of setting up a circuit bench in Goa of the National Green Tribunal.
The High Court will give its verdict today on the issue, based on which environmentalists will come to know whether their cases are shifted to Delhi or Pune, or will there be a circuit bench in Goa.
