A joint team of Tourism Department, Goa State Pollution Control Room (GSPCB) and Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) will begin inspection of the shacks erected along the beachside for the ongoing tourist season.
Though not all the shacks, which were granted provisional license have come along the coastline; only those which have been completed will undergo the inspection from tomorrow, Tuesday.
Out of 98 percent provisional shack licenses allotted so far, less than 50 percent shack operators have been able to complete constructing the temporary owing to rains and lack of labourers.
After consistent demand from the shack operators, the Tourism Department ensured early issuance of provisional license so that the seasonal huts are erected in-time this year. But continuous rains in the past few days played a spoilsport.
“Rains and shortage of manpower to erect the shacks have delayed. Only less than 50 percent shacks are complete which will undergo inspection,” Cruz Cardozo, All Goa Traditional Shack Owners Association President said.
The final permission following the crucial inspection will allow them to start the business for the ongoing season that is already witnessing huge influx of tourists
