Panaji (Goa) The rumour mill and illogical forwarding of the messages on whatsapp groups have their field day since last evening. The news quoting Parrikar’s statement that if he loses Panaji, he would return as Defence minister is making rounds. And BJP confirms that the news is fake.
The party has decided to file a formal complaint with Election Commission of India and Cyber Crime cell against the news which seems to be aimed at denting the campaign of Parrikar.
We spoke to Siddharth Kuncolienkar this morning and this is what he had to say:
“The news is absolutely fake and it is being circulated by Congress party which is certain to lose their deposit.”
He said that the Congress candidate Girish Chodankar and his party leaders have sensed that they are not getting any response to their campaign due to which they have started circulating this fake news.
Kuncolienkar said the Congress was trying to save its deposit and has to hire workers from Maharashtra to accompany Chodankar during his door to door campaign.
He said the BJP will be filing formal complaint against unknown person with Election Commission of India and Cyber Crime cell of Goa police in connection with the fake news.
CONGRESS HAS REFUTED THE CHARGES. GIRISH CHODANKAR SAID:
Our election campaign has been on a positive note and they have been receiving good support.
“We have been campaigning on a positive note. The party will never indulge in negative campaigning. The support which I have been receiving is tremendous,” Chodankar reacted.
He accused that BJP itself was circulating the fake news about Parrikar so that they can later cry over it and divert the attention. “BJP are lacking issues to fight this by election,” he said.
