GOA: LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION TO STUDENTS LIKELY FROM THIS MONTH END

Panaji (Goa) Ahead of Diwali festival, here comes good news for over 35,000 students of Class XI and XII. The Directorate of Education will begin the distribution of laptops under the ‘cyberage scheme’, most likely by this month end.
The laptop distribution will be held in three different phases, with first batch consisting of students of class XII for the last academic year- 2016-17.
The Info-Tech Corporation Ltd, the agency for supply of laptops under the scheme, has given acceptance letter to the Education department assuring a supply of 35,000 laptops at the earliest.
Director Education Gajanan Bhat confirmed that the Info-Tech Corporation has given acceptance letter assuring the supply of 35,000 laptops. “Once they supply the laptops we will start distribution in phase manner. The distribution may begin by end of this month as the corporation is likely to make available laptops within next fortnight,” he said.
In the second phase, the current students from class XII will be provided with laptops. In the third phase, Class XI students will be covered.
According to the scheme, students from aided schools can avail of the laptops by paying Rs 1000 but recently the scheme was also open to unaided schools wherein the students will have to pay Rs 2000.
