Panaji (Goa) Shiv Sena has appreciated the lead taken by Ex Sarpanch of Barse-Padi Village Panchayat. Mrs Seema Velip and present panch member Savita Gaoankar against situation arising from excessive consumption of alcohol and illegal sale of Alcohol in the Village Panchayat area, states Spokesperson and Vice President Jitesh Kamat and further congratulated them and other women participated in the morcha.
Mr. kamat has urged woman from other Panchayat in Goa to follow their footprints and unitedly voice against such issues like alcohol, drugs and gambling in their villages and assured them that Shiv Sena be with them for such a good cause of reformation in the society.
He has also criticized Government for its insensitivity towards the problem of women and had to hit the streets. Government authorities should have promptly act and started councelling sessions in such villages. Mr. Kamat informed that Sena delegation leaded by Mrs.Rakhi Naik tried to meet these effected women from Barse but they were unavailable as most of them had gone for work. She revealed the she has communicated to some villagers and learnt that this particular village has been neglected for several years with poor facilities including medical facilities. They are dependent on Primary Health Centre in Canacona. Village Panchayat has 90% population of ST community which are mostly dependent on Agriculture. Also except few involved in cashew farming, rest are not economically sound. Such addiction worsen their economy and women has to suffer a lot. Being involved in the business of cashew farming, availability of local alcohol is easy. Unemployment is also a reason to instigate them to drink to kill the time. Youngster from Villages like Gokalde, Padi, Kiskon, Khede in the limits of Barse-Padi Panchayats have been addicted to Alcohol and card gambling in the Villages. This leads to destruction in families, domestic violence and threat to the society. This is a very serious issue where our young generation are in danger and government authorities should not take it lightly. Mr. Kamat said that this is not only the agitation but expression on anger of unseen heartrending pain of overwhelmed women, said agitation will become a mass movement through all villages if government fails to crab illegalities like alcohol gambling and drugs.
Mrs Rakhi Naik, has alleged that Mrs Savitri Kavlekar, wife of MLA, Babu Kavlekar has enough time to hobnob in Sanguem and participating in the social events sponsored by giving huge donations but does not have time to visit her neighbouring village from where her husband is representing. She also opined that Babu Kavlekar is sole responsible for the situation in Barse-Padi as he did not do any development for being MLA for last 17 consecutive years.
Also present our vice President Rakhi Naik office bearer Paresh Pankar, Vandan Lobo and Suraj Vernekar.
