Panaji (Goa) The truck owners association has said that they have lost faith that the State or Central government can solve the issue regarding the mining which has plagued the industry.

All Goa Truck Owners Association President Nilkant Gawas said that the state and central government is responsible for the current plight of the industry. He said that the truck owners are left in the lurch because of the inability of the politicians to solve the issue.

Gawas demanded that the officers like Director of Mines and Geology Prasanna Acharya should be arrested after Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases. He said that was the responsibility of the department to ensure that the mining industry comes back on the track.

The truck owners have opposed the auctioning of the mining leases but instead have said that the leases should be run by the corporations formed by local villagers.
