Panaji (Goa): Over a week after its inauguration, the Goa Lokayukta Office will now commission from the Old Goa Medical College (GMC) building at Ribandar from its existing location at Altinho – near All India Radio.

Its new premise on the first floor of the new building (west side) Goa Institute of Management in the Old GMC building at Ribandar will function with effect from February 12, 2018.

“The concerned Advocates, Litigants, Parties, Witnesses, General Public and all public functionaries as defined section 2(q) of the Lokayuta Act 2011, are required to take note of above and to attend the hearing of the cases/file petitions/statements of assets and liabilities and to make such related future correspondence to the   Lokayukta/Secretary/Registrar on the address Institution of Goa Lokayukta, first floor, new building (west side) GIM, Old GMC building Ribandar,” reads a note issued a while ago.

Interestingly, the complex also houses the Goa Police’s Crime Branch office, Cyber Cell, Coastal Police Station and Special Investigation Team (Mines). The Lokayukta (Goa) office was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on January 26. 

Justice P K Mishra, former chairman of the Goa State Human Rights Commission, is the current and the second Lokayukta of Goa. The post was lying vacant since October 17, 2013, when the first Lokayukta Justice (retd) B Sudarshan Reddy had resigned citing personal reasons.

The Lokayukta office is presently in the news for having issued notices to those public functionaries who have failed to submit their assets and liabilities. Among the public functionaries also includes a handful of legislators.
