Miramar (Goa) The grounded vessel M V Lucky 7 refuses to leave the Miramar beach continuing to be an eye-sore for the visitors at the most frequented stretch. After managing to float last week, the vessel was all set to sail to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) for repairs but the gushing hole has played a spoilsport and it has been widening risking its movement in the waters. Ports Administration officials confirmed that waters have reached the engine room making the work all the more difficult.
“The vessel developed gushing hole and it is widening as the waves is hitting it continously. The repair works are underway,” said the official conceding that salvage operation will delay further. The Arihant Ship Breakers that has been roped-in to salvage the vessel is conducting the repair works. The crane barge has already been positioned near the ship to tow it to MPT, however the entire exercise is expected to delay further.
The Ports department had cautioned the Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd not to tow the vessel before September 15, however it defied the order and the vessel left the MPT dock on July 13. More than a month now, the vessel is stranded at the beach. A day to day inspection of the vessel is being carried out by the government and Arihant experts.
