Aaashrun Gautam and Anjana Kumari walked away with the Under 19 Boys and Girls singles titles, at the 12th Dhond Memorial Major Ranking Badminton Tournament, organised in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, at Indoor stadium, Campal. Aaashrun capped an outstanding season to claim his third singles title in succession while Anjana who had lost out in the previous two tournaments made amends by winning the season ending championship. For young Margao shuttler Arjun Fallary, it was double delight as he won the Under 17 Boys singles and doubles titles, the latter partnering his Margao compatriot Rudra Dukle. Yasmin Sayed emerged Under 17 Girls singles winner with an emphatic win over her opponent. In Boys doubles Under 19, Yash Kunkolienker and Sushil Nayak came back from a set down to emerge winners in enthralling finals that went the whole distance. Ms. Monica Dourado, Project Officer, the Sports Authority of Goa, India’s top ranked shuttler Anura Prabhu Desai, Tournament Promoter Gaurish Dhond, GBA Officials Narahar Thakur (President) and Sandeep Heble (Secretary) and Technical officials Roy Ataide and Pradosh Silimkhan graced the finals.
