The State mines department has directed the lease holders to continue pumping of water from mining leases for drinking, agriculture and horticulture purpose of the villagers.

In a directions issued to all lease holders, Mines department director Prasanna Acharya has said that the these activities does not come within the ambit of Supreme Court verdict as they are not connected with mining operations but are measures which are required as a part of social responsibility.

Acharya said that stopping of pumping of water may deprive the villagers of regular supply of drinking water which is required for basic human existence and is required to live with dignity which is fundamental right protected by Highest Court of Justice.

Since water pumping is directed for public cause, Water Resources department is requested not to claim any water cess on such pumping activity.
