The truck owners involved in iron ore transportation, currently left jobless due to closer of mining industry, has petitioned Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar demanding alternative source of income to feed their families and clear the pending liabilities.
The truck owners have submitted their representation to Chief Minister, Cabinet Advisory Committee and Chief Secretary for immediate help.
“We are writing this letter as a presentation on behalf of all the truck owners who have overnight become jobless because of stoppage of mining business and need help from you (government) at the earlier,” North Goa Truck Owners Association President Nilkant Gawas said in their representation.
The truck owners have requested government for monthly financial package or to waive off their loan pending with the financial institutions.
“We request you to start paying us money which we used to first earn in the business of transportation of ore or provide an alternate source of income so that we clear our liabilities and our families do not starve of hunger or else to come out with a relief package for us and waive off our loans that we had taken from banks to purchase these trucks as we are unable to repay the loans due to the mining stoppage,” they said.
“We hope that you understand this problem of thousand of Goans and take all necessary steps as soon as possible,” they added.
