Panaji (Goa) Congress Goa Chief Shantaram Naik was quick enough to react to the election results. This is what he told a press conference.
Reacting to the election results of the two Assembly bye elections to the Goa Assembly, Mr Shantaram Naik ex-MP and President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee said that elections are a moral defeat for BJP as their candidates indulged into corrupt practice as official position was used by the two candidates offering jobs to the voters ,although BJP might have obtained electoral victory.
Congress party has built an organisation base in the two constituencies and, Congress will strengthen its base in the two constituencies in coming days.
Mr Naik said that in Panaji BJP candidate misused premises of Mahalaxmi temple in violation of Religious Institutions (Prevention of Misuse ) Act , 1988 and CM’s official residence as CM was holding meetings at the official residence.
Mr Naik said that Mr Parrikar should feel ashamed of indulging in acts of corrupt practices through his midnight operations despite posing himself as Mr Clean , in clear violation of Representation of Peoples’ Act 1951
Mr Naik said BJP candidates in the two constituencies were holding ministerial posts without being MLAs and they went on showering false promises of jobs misusing their positions.
Mr Naik said that BJP Candidates used the concept of electoral terrorism to scare the voters.
Mr Naik further Said that Sidharth Cuncoliencar appeared before a television channel to showcase the achievements of BJP disregarding election laws and legal norms.
Mr Naik said that Election Commission’s so called flying squad detained Mr RAVI Naik , MLA and former Chief Minister of Goa at Valpoi on 22nd August ,when he was buying bananas in the market.
Mr Naik said that he was made to sit at the Valpoi Police Station for three hours , and that, a vehicle of his worker was attached.
Mr Naik said that BJP systematically floated news through a section of press that certain number of congress MLAs are likely to cross over to BJP.
Some neutral body should inquire into the fact whether certain congress MLAs were threatened with prosecution by sources close to BJP.
Mr Naik said that in the two bye elections entire ministry of Goa Government and MLAs of two allies parties
and some independents had entered the field.
