Panaji (Goa) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today reviewed the performance of state-run Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for last five years.

The meeting, held at the official residence of the chief minister, was attended by senior officials including GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral.

“The Chief Minister took stock of the working of GTDC for last five years. He was happy with the performance of the state-run body,” Cabral said.

He said that the corporation which was running in loses before he (Cabral) took it over five years back is now out of the red.

“GTDC properties which were absolutely running in loses are brought back to good financial health. We have abolished 75 posts during last five years and also outsourced few services,” Cabral stated.

GTDC officials which made a presentation before the chief minister brought to his (CM) notice that the corporation has taken up 14 activities to promote tourism, which are executed without spending any money from the State coffers.

“The activities like hot air balloon, double decker hop on hop off buses, white water river rafting and others were taken up without pinching the State exchequer,” Cabral said.
