Panaji: Armed with the latest gadgets, the traffic police today descended on various stretches of the State to act against the rash and negligent driving, drunken driving and various other violations.

The action is a follow up of the meeting held by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday asking the police to be stricter in implementing the traffic laws. Parrikar was disturbed after spate of accidents witnessed on State’s roads.

This morning, senior police officials held the meeting at headquarters of Traffic Police at Altinho to decide the strategy and soon, the action began.

“The cases are being booked of drunken driving, rash and negligent driving and other traffic violations. We will not spare anyone violating the rules,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dharmesh Angle said.

Police have kept special eye on the accident prone zones and also by-passes where overspeeding has been order of the day.
