CALANGUTE (GOA)

 

Calangute police have raided one apartment in residential-cum-hotel complex on Wednesday, February 28, and rescued one victim girl who was being used for prostitution.

 

As per PI Jivba Dalvi, a reliable information was received from a source that one pimp is supplying girls for the purpose of prostitution in   Candolim area. 

 

Further PI Dalvi secured an NGO Savera member  Andrea Pereira and formed a team to raid the place. Further police camped at Candolim and laid a trap and planted a dummy customer and secured contact with the pimp. Accordingly, when the accused pimp arrived at the apartment, the dummy customer was directed to approach the pimp. Further, while the deal was materialising police immediately rounded the room and detained the pimp. The accused pimp was identified as Aniket Sarkar, S/o Rafikul Sarkar, age- 27 yrs, R/o Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.

 

Police also rescued one victim girl, N/o Gujarat who was kept in the apartment for delivering to the customer. The said victim girl has been lodged in Protective Home, Merces – Goa for safe custody and protection after obtaining order from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Bardez-Goa. 

 

The raid went on from 09 pm to 11 pm. During the raid, police have attached cash of Rs. 20,000/- and two mobiles along with other articles. PI Dalvi informed that they have sealed the apartment used for the prostitution activity and they are going to summon the owner of the apartment for the purpose of investigation.

 

The raiding team was led by PI Jivba Dalvi and consisted of PSI Vidyesh Pilgaokar, PSI Sitaram Malik, police constables Vidyanand Amonkar, Sameer Sawant, Yogesh Bordekar, Nilesh Mandrekar, and lady constables  Deepa Gaurav and Supriya Mayekar.

 

Police have registered an offence under section 370 IPC and Section 3, 4, 5 and 7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

 

PI Jivba Is further investigating the case under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim Shri. Kiran Poduwal and SP North Shri Umesh Gaonkar.
