Porvorim (Goa): Congress’ ex-minister for Water Resources Filip Neri Rodrigues has urged the Goa government not to fall prey to repeated requests from the two adjoining states for an out-f-court settlement on the diversion of Mhadei water.
“We should not go for out-of-court settlement or dialogues with the two states because our case is strong before the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal,” he told the House while speaking on demands for grants on water resources.
Rodrigues reiterated that Goa government should not agree to share even a single drop of water with Karnataka. Discussing on the contentious issue, he did not shy away from stating that dispute of such type is an indication of fight for water across the world.
Goa government is being approached by governments from Maharashtra and Karnataka for an out-of-court settlement but the former is adamant to continue with the trial before the Tribunal. Advocate Atmaram Nadkarni has been exposing the lies of the witness from Karnataka during the ongoing cross examination.
