Porvorim (Goa) State government has decided to withdraw the permission given to Goa University allowing them relax certain criterias while appointing the teachers after it came to light that they were being misused.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told State Legislative Assembly today that government will withdraw permission granted to Goa University to relax the criteria of having Konkani language essential and domicile of 15 years while filling the post of teachers.
The issue was raised on the floor of the House during Zero Hour by Congress legislator Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco who had pointed out that university had advertised several vacancies relaxing these two important criterias.
State Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai too agreed with Lourenco on the issue that university should not be allowed to drop these criterias which ensure that the locals are getting the opportunity.
Parrikar who is also State Education minister said that the government had agreed to relax the criterias with the condition that Goa university should apply this relaxation only if local eligible candidate is not available.
“We issued them another clarification that if there is no local eligible candidate was available, then Goa university should take clearance on case-to-case basis with the state government to relax these criterias,” he said.
“They have violated the permission granted to them. I will ask the director of Education to withdraw the permission. They will have to ask for permission again,” he said.
