GOA SESSION: NO MORE 20-POINT PROGRAMME FOR HOMELESS IN GOA

Panaji (GOA): Minister for Housing Jayesh Salgaonkar told the House on Wednesday that State will not be going for housing for the homeless under the 20 point programme anymore.
Minister said that as per the Government appointed High Powered Committee recommendation, it is decided not to launch anymore 20 point programme in the State. “There are no plans or schemes to provide affordable housing to the economically weaker sections in the State,” he said.
Salgaonkar was replying to a question raised by Independent Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
“We have proposed housing projects in Quepem and Canacona taluka,” Minister said expressing willingness to have a similar project in Sanguem taluka provided the land is made available.
Salgaonkar said that government is coming up with 1700 flats consisting of single and double bedroom at Colvale, which will be provided at an affordable price to the locals.
