Panaji (Goa) The organizers of upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) expected an impressive line up of celebrities to be present for the event this year with Shahrukh Khan confirming as the chief guest for the inaugural on November 20.
More than 200 films would be screened during the IFFI that would be held in Panaji from November 20 to 28 during which more than 200 films would be screened.
“Shahrukh Khan will declare the festival open,” Entertainment Society of Goa’s Vice Chairman Rajendra Talak told reporters yesterday adding that Katrina Kaif and Shahid Kapoor will also be present for the inaugural function to be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium located near Panaji.
Union Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani will also be present for the inaugural function.
“This year everybody want to become part of film festival. This is happening because of our minister Smriti Irani,” Talak said adding that many more celebrities will be arriving at the festival, but their presence will be confirmed at the last minute as “they are busy in their individual shootings.”
Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s film ‘Beyond The Clouds’ would be the opening film of the festival, which would be screened after the inaugural function, Talak said.
This film stars Ishaan Khattar in his big screen debut along with Malayalam actor Malavika Mohanan. A R Rahman has composed music for the movie which revolves around the adoration of love, life and human relationships between a brother and sister in Mumbai.
The Indo-Argentine film ‘Thinking of Him’ by filmmaker Pablo Cesar will be the closing film for the festival. The film revolves around the relationship of legendary poet and intellectual Rabindranath Tagore played by Victor Benerjee.
