Panaji (Goa) Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s criticism against Manohar Parrikar led government should be taken as a mere joke as the party has a habit to throw their weight around with such stunts, Shiv Sena Goa spokesman Rakhi Naik said today.
Naik in a press note issued here has said: MGP President Dipak Dhavalikar has said that the are unhappy with the functioning of State government and has said that they are waiting and watching the performance.
Sena has said:
“Shiv Sena which had fought the last election in alliance with MGP strongly condemns the way MGP has been taking people for a ride. How can Dhavalikar forget that they are part of the government and his own brother Sudin Dhavalikar is having two of the biggest portfolios – Public Works Department and Transport.
On the eve of Diwali, Sena has pointed out to the pitiable condition of the roads in the State. It is not few of the road stretches but there are many where driving or riding is difficult.
When Dipak says that they are not happy with the performance of government, Sena agrees with him because his own brother has failed to repair these roads. We full agree and want Dipak to demand that Sudin Dhavalikar should be shunted out of the cabinet for failure to govern.
If MGP is seriously bothered about people’s sentiments, then they should not wait and watch but immediately ask for replacement of their own minister.
The affairs and corruption in transport department is known to all. MGP should also demand inquiry into corruption at transport department and demand sacking of the minister concerned.
Dhavalikar brothers have always played a politics of opportunism. They change their colours overnight. MGP’s threat to pull out from the government is merely a pressure tactic to gain more from the current dispensation.
MGP should also look at the affairs of the tourism industry and worsening beaches as far as cleanliness is concerned. They are right when they say they are not happy with the current government as their own minister Babu Asgaonkar has failed to govern. The beaches remain shabby and tourism is currently thriving only on the domestic visitors, who too will disappear if the current scenario continues. Dhavalikar should demand that Asgaonkar should be sacked from the cabinet.
Sena will also like to know what would be MGP’s stand on the day of Opinion Poll celebrations which are scheduled in January. Will they celebrate it? MGP was the party which wanted to merge Goa into Maharashtra. Now will they celebrate it or observe it as a black day. Let Dhavalikar brothers clarify on this also.”
