In a bid to regulate and grant protection to the street vendors, the Government has introduced special scheme, under which the urban bodies through their town vending committees have to demarcate vending zones.

The Department of Urban Development has notified the Goa Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood, Regulation of Street Vending and Licensing) Scheme, 2017.

The town vending committee has to undertake the survey of all the street vendors within a period of next three months. Committee has to designate the vending zone as primary, secondary and tertiary, considering the commercial potentials, facilities and such other factors.

Each street vendor will be provided with certificates declaring them as legal, provided that the street vending business is the only livelihood and it is been operated by him/ her or the family member. The street vendor has to complete 18 years of age.
