Panaji (Goa) Sessions court ordered that the charges be framed against founder Editor of Tehelka Tarun Tejpal who has been charged under various sections including that of a rape following complaint by his former lady colleague.
District and Sessions Judge Vijaya Pol refused application of 54-year-old Tejpal to drop charges against him.
“The court has directed that the charges should be framed against Tarun Tejpal,” Public Prosecutor Fransisco Tavora told reporters outside the court.
The court had barred the media from reporting proceedings under section 327 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Tavora said that no charges against Tejpal were dropped by the court. “In fact, the charges have been added,” he said.
The court today ruled that the charges be framed against Tejpal under section 341 (wrongful restrain), 342 (wrongful confinement), 350 (criminal force), 354 (A) and (B) (sexually coloured remarks and use of criminal force on woman) and 376 (F) and (K) (raping woman) of Indian Penal Code.
The court has fixed the next hearing in the case on September 28.
Tejpal was accused of sexually abusing a lady colleague in an elevator of five star hotel during Think Fest 2013.
