GOA: TRANSPORT DEPT SPECIAL DRIVE TO CRACK DOWN ON PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSE

Panaji (Goa): The State Transport Department has launched a special check drive against the motor vehicles, registered as private, but are used for commercial purposes illegally.

The department has directed special check drive against motor vehicles which are registered as Non Transport vehicle but are operating the same, illegally as taxis, taxis (yellow/black as well as tourist taxis).

The inspectors are asked to detect all such drivers who are driving vehicles without a public service vehicle authorization and also book them for utter violation of Rule No. (4) of The Goa Motor Vehicles Rules, 1991.

“In order, to curb the rampant violation, of use of Non Transport vehicles registered under private Registration numbers for commercial activities and for transportation of goods or for hire purpose to transport passengers, the special drive has been initiated,” director transport Nikhil Desai said.

The drive will continue till January 5, 2018.
