Calangute (Goa): As the state is witnessing peak tourist season with influx of international and domestic tourists increasing manifold, Calangute police have busted a prostitution racket rescuing two girls.
Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi informed that upon reliable information that two pimps were operating in the coastal Calangute, a dummy customer was sent for procuring girls for prostitution this afternoon.
“The raiding team along with the decoy customer waited at Agarwado, Calangute, laying a trap. The two pimps arrived on separate scooters along with the two victim girls. Accordingly based on the description police immediately rounded up the pimps and detained them,” the PI said.
The pimps have been identified as Firoz S/o Khurshid Khan, aged 34 years from Jogeshwari, Mumbai and Vijay Mohanlal Madan puri, aged 24 years, a native of Jaipur, Rajasthan. They were arrested thereafter.
During the raid police have attached seven mobiles phones, one maestro scooter bearing number GA-03-AB-9115 and one Dio scooter bearing number GA-03-D-7854 along with cash of Rs. 15,000. Both the victim girls native of Kolkata and Delhi have been lodged in Protective Home, Merces after obtaining orders from the Sub Divisional Magistrate , Mapusa-Goa while accused pimps have been lodged in police lockup and will be produced for remand.
Police have registered offence under section 3,4,5 and 7 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and section 370, 370(3) of Indian Penal Code.
