GOA: VOTING BEGINS FOR PREZ POLL IN GOA

Porvorim (Goa): The voting for the post of President of India began in Goa this morning along with other states. The MLAs had began queuing to vote since morning.

Goa Forward Party’s Jayesh Salgaoncar, Vinod Palyekar, Congress’ Philip Neri Rodrigues, Ravi Naik, Digambar Kamat, Tony Fernandes and BJP’s Pramod Sawant, Pravin Zantye came first to vote.

Total 38 legislators are eligible for the vote in this election in Goa as two MLAs – Vishwajit Rane (Congress) and Siddharth Kuncolienkar (BJP) – have already resigned.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is yet to be elected to the House, also polled his vote around 11 a.m. as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Lucknow.

Three other members of parliament – Shantaram Naik (Rajya Sabha), Shripad Naik (Lok Sabha) and Narendra Sawaikar (Lok Sabha) – will cast their votes in Delhi.
