Colva (Goa) It was a messy scene when a minor student was asked to climb up the pole to untie the knot of the flag during hoisting of Tricolour in Colva. The event was jointly hosted by Colva Panchayat and Government Primary school.
Colva Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes along with the panch members were present as the guests for the event, which is jointly hosted by panchayat the school annually.
The video clip of the child climbing up the pole has gone viral. The child is seen flawlessly going up to untie the know and unfurl the flag within few seconds amidst clapping by the guests and group of students.
When contacted, Fernandes admitted that the incident happened but said that it has nothing to do with panchayat. “We were present as the guest because the function is jointly organized by panchayat and the school,” he said.
Fernandes said one of the student climbed up as when I pulled the rope the flag was not getting unfurled. “It does not amount to insult of the flag,” he said.
