Margao (Goa) Shiv Sena leaders today questioned silence of Savitri Kavlekar over the illegal trade and matka slip issue.

This is what they said in a press note issued after the press conference:

Shiv Sena is shocked the way Quepem MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar is doing shadow boxing by putting in front his foot soldiers who does not have any social or political standing in Sanguem or Quepem.

While his cronies and foot soldiers are busy painting the entire town red with the praises of their leader, the voters of Quepem constituency and common people know what he has done for them.

Kavlekar has indicated all the traits of being selfish leaders increasing his own wealth manifold while leaving the people away from development. That is why he is now facing investigation by Anti Corruption Branch of Goa Police.

Quepem MLA who claims himself to be messiah of common man has several flats on his name in Margao and lives in a posh bunglow while his voters who were living in poor condition remain to be there.  Can Kavlekar explain what he has done to raise the standard of living of the voters?

Shiv Sena also demands that ACB should probe into the spendings of Savitri Kavlekar, wife of Babu, who has been co-accused in the case. She has been seen spending heavily to please few of her foot soldiers who later double up as her spokesman. Police department, which is investigating the case of gambling and corruption against Chandrakant and his wife, should also keep her spending under scanner.

We want to know what is the stand of Savitri on the matka slips that were found in her house. Does she own the responsibility or can tell us whether it belonged to her husband or brother in law or it fell from the sky. Why is Savitri avoiding to answer this crucial question.

Sena is proud that the party and its leaders Rakhi Naik and Gitesh Kamat took up the issue of illegal liquor sale in Kavlekar’s constituency. It would been a right gesture for Savitri to join the fight against illegal liquor.

As a woman leader of Congress party does she support sale of illegal liquor in Quepem constituency. Savitri who is on the spree of promoting herself as social worker should start from home by cleaning her own home and handing over her husband to the police for his links with illegal liquor trade.

Sena also wants to know the stand of Goa Mahila Congress over the sale of liquor in the constituency represented by their own leader. The party which wants 33 per cent reservation for women for their empowerment should first ask Savitri and her husband about this protection provided to illegal liquor trade.
