Anura Prabhu Desai from Goa, who is the brand ambassador Geno Pharmaceuticals, has been selected for Premier Badminton League (PBL) 2018-19.
She will represent team Mumbai Rockets. Her current BWF Women singles ranking is 105 and India ranking is 3 in singles.
She won a Bronze in recently concluded All India Senior Ranking at Bangalore. The upcoming season will begin from December 22, 2018, and will conclude on January 13, 2019.
The 23-day event will see Delhi Dashers, Ahmedabad Smash Masters, Awadhe Warriors, Bengaluru Raptors, Mumbai Rockets, Hyderabad Hunters, Chennai Smashes, North Eastern Warriors and Pune 7 Aces slug it out for a prize purse of Rs 6 crore in five cities with the inaugural rounds being held in Mumbai, followed by Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.
Anura is the first Goan player to be a part of the PBL.
Following players will be a part of the Mumbai Rockets squad: Anura Prabhudesai , Lee Yong Dae, Pia Zebadiah Bernadet, Kim Gi Jung, Shriyanshi Pardeshi, Sameer Verma, Kuhoo Garg, Manu Attri, Anders Antonsen and Pratul Joshi.
