GOVT APPOINTS 20 JUNIOR DOCTORS AT VARIOUS HEALTH CENTRES; 35 MORE SOON

Panaji (Goa): In order to meet the shortage of junior resident doctors at GMC and other government hospitals, Health department today posted 20 new doctors on a contract basis. More 35 doctors will be posted soon.

These are the MBBS students, which include those who have completed their post graduation and also interns with whom the government has signed a one-year bond.

The 20 doctors are posted at North Goa district hospital Mapusa, Hospicio, Ponda sub-district hospital, Community Health Centre (CHC) Canacona and Curchorem.

These students are basically postgraduates in pathologist, microbiologist, paediatrics, chest physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, ENT doctors, radiologist, gynaecologist, and seven doctors from dental college.

“For the first time, we are strictly implementing the bond. I have given clear instruction to Dean of GMC that there is no question of releasing the documents of the students unless the bond is fulfilled,” Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told TNV.

Doctors will be paid a consolidated salary of Rs 55,000 per month.

Minister said that more 35 doctors, with whom bonds are signed, will be posted shortly.
