GOVT SET UP COMMITTEE FOR PROMOTION AND MARKETING GOA AS A TOURISM BRAND

Panaji (GOA): Goa Government has constituted State Level Marketing and Promotion Committee (SLMPC) for promotion of Goa as a tourism destination at national and international platform.

The Committee constituted under chairmanship of Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar to finalize branding plans and marketing strategies for Goa Tourism and all other promotional and marketing related matters.

“The SLPMC for all purposes is a recommendatory body to the Government and shall render all help and assistance for deciding matters relating to promotion and marketing activities of Goa Tourism. As such, all the decisions of the SLPMC shall be subject to approval by the Government,” the notification issued on Friday reads.

The SLPMC has to finalize and recommend to the Government a calendar of events for the annual year- June to May 2018.

The new tourism season for the state will commence from October.

Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) chairman Nilesh Cabral is appointed as vice chairman of the committee, which needs to be met at least five times in a year.

The other members of the committee are Secretary Tourism, MD GTDC, Director Tourism as member secretary and five private members.
