Drivers of government vehicles, as well as government bus drivers, will now face license suspension for six months if caught using mobile phones while driving.

The state road safety advisory council took the decision at a meeting on Friday in presence of state transport minister Sudin Dhavalikar.

The meeting was attended by PWD chief engineer, PWD officials, transport secretary, transport department officials and others.

The issue of damaged roads and potholes was also discussed at the meeting. The PWD officials have been asked to come out with a plan to prevent potholes from developing on roads and also to repair the existing ones.
