Gujarat native arrested for possessing ganja, charas

Sunny Ujegriya, who is a native of Gujarat and a resident of Candolim has been arrested by Calangute police on charges of illegally possessing narcotic substances worth Rs 50,000.

The accused was caught red handed in possession of 135 grams of ganja and 350 grams of charas, on Saturday midnight.

Ujegriya was produced before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Mapusa and has been remanded to two days of police custody.

An offence has been registered against the accused under Section 21 (b), 20 (b) (ii) (A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The raid was conducted by Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi along with PSI Sitaram Naik and Videsh Pilgaonkar.

Meanwhile, another accused by name Laxman Morya was arrested by Calangute police for possessing drugs worth Rs 3.45 lakh, which the accused had come to deliver to a prospective buyer in Calangute.

The accused is a resident of Uttar Pradesh but was staying in Calangute, according to police.

The accused was in possession of 6 grams of cocaine and 45 grams of ganja, worth Rs 3.45 lakh.

The police has registered a case under Section 21 (b), 20 (b) (i) (A) of NDPS Act 1985.
