The High Court of Bombay at Goa on Friday ordered the investigation into the murder of Swedish national, Felix Dahl, to be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Minna Pirhonen, the mother of the deceased, had moved the high court last year pleading for a proper investigation into the death of her son.

Dahl (22), who was on a holiday in Goa, was found dead in January 2015 at Canacona.

The local police had filed a closure report before the high court stating that there was no evidence of murder or foul play in the Swedish man’s death.

A division bench of justices N M Jamdar and Prithviraj Chawan ordered that the investigation into Dahl’s death be handed over to the CBI.

During the arguments before the high court bench, advocate Shikha Sethia, representing Pirhonen, pointed out that Dahl’s death was unexplained and still a mystery.

She alleged that the local police had not investigated the case properly.

Rivonkar told the court that Dahl’s head injuries were circumstantial and were caused by a fall.

The public prosecutor also said that there was no financial motive to kill Dahl as he had a paltry bank balance.
