IMA delegation meets CM

A delegation of the Indian Medical Association, Goa State Branch, on Wednesday, led by Dr Medha Salkar and Dr Kalpana Chodankar met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as well as Director General of Police Dr Muktesh Chander demanding arrest of the absconding woman who along with another accused assaulted 73-year-old Dr Babu Redkar at his clinic in Carmona on April 10.

The police had registered an FIR under different sections of the IPC and also under the Goa Medicare Act 2013 and have arrested one of the accused involved.

The delegation of the IMA, through a memorandum has requested the CM to ensure speedy arrest of the absconding female accused. Parrikar assured the delegation that action would be initiated.

“We have requested the CM to appoint a redressal committee under section 7(I) of the Goa Medicare Act, which can be a big help to avoid such unfortunate incidents,” said Dr Medha Salkar.

According to sources, the deceased patient’s family, have also filed a counter complaint against the doctor for allegedly assaulting the complainant.
