IMD WITHDRAWS RED ALERT; WARNS FISHERMEN FROM VENTURING INTO SEA

Panaji (Goa) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today withdrew the extreme rainfall warning for the Goa coast, but has directed fishermen not to venture into sea for next 24 hours due to rough sea condition.

IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall for the State for next two days.

“Monsoon has been vigorous over Goa during last 24 hours and in the present conditions it is expected that it will continue for next two days,” IMD said.

IMD has said that the winds would be westerly to South westerly with speed of 45050 KMPH temporarily, reaching 60 KMPH in gusts. “Sea will be rough during the period. Fishermen advised not to go out in the sea during next 24 hours,” it stated.

The total seasonal rainfall has touched 81 inches.
