Panaji (Goa): As the peak tourist season is set to roll the carpet for scores of entertainment shows, Goa government has in principle granted permission to two new electronic dance music (EDM) festivals subject to conditions.

Sources inform that since both the events are coinciding in the last week of December; the State Level Permission Committee (SLPC) has asked to look out for fresh dates.

“Both the festivals which are proposed to be held in December are clashing over the dates. The SLPC has thus asked the local firm to consider another date,” said an official.

Time Out 72 Music Festival, proposed by Ahmedabad-based Sudarshan Entertainment Pvt Ltd has planned to host the mega EDM from December 27 to December 29 whereas the untitled EDM proposed by an organiser from the popular coastal belt of Pernem intends to host a small capacity (of 4,000 crowd) on December 29-30. Although both the venues are different at Vagator and Candolim respectively, the government does not want to take a change with the security measures and additional burden of huge crowd at the coastal stretch during this period.
As such, the smaller EDM is asked to change the dates, decision of which will be known on October 30 when the SLPC is sitting next.

While a final NOC is yet to be granted, the non-Goan organiser has already begun selling online tickets and nearly confirming it’s maiden event here.

The two events is considered replacement to Sunburn and Supersonic that shifted to Pune last year after facing hurdles in obtaining permission from government. Organisers of both EDMs owe the state government around Rs 6 crores.

Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar has supported EDM provided it does not affect the Goan culture.  He has also sought a total ban on drugs allegedly used in late night parties.
