Panaji (Goa) The Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) is all set to resume the kidney transplant facility from first week of January, 2018.
Kidney transplants in GMC had come to a standstill since October, 2016 in the absence of a full-time nephrologist.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today announced that the kidney transplant facility will re-start from January first week, next year.
Minister informed that there are already four cases lined up for transplant.
The government has appointed nephrologist Dr Shital Lengade as the head of the department.
Kidney transplants in the GMC are jointly conducted by the departments of urology and nephrology.
