TNV: Tell us something about yourself.
JG: I’m Jazmyne Robyne Gonsalves, I live in Aldona, a tiny but beautiful village. For someone that loves nature and being around it, it’s wonderful.
I’ve graduated with a BA in English Literature.
I’m an artist in the form of dance and painting, I try to sing but I wouldn’t say it’s my strongest talent as compared to the other two.
From a very young age I’ve always liked being photographed and I find much amusement in posing.
TNV: What inclined you towards modelling? Are you looking forward to it as a full-time profession?
JG: As a child I felt very comfortable modelling and I’ve watched Tyra Banks talk about how being unique is a QUALITY and I can say I’m not the average model, I’m definitely someone with a lot of punch.
Modelling has always been in my blood and now I think it’s time for me to finally work towards it and look at it as a career.
TNV: What was your reaction when you came to know that you were selected for Stellar Mr & Ms Goa 2020?
JG: I was extremely excited. Ayesha Baretto pushed me to participate, as I lacked confidence to be part of a pageant before, and I’m so happy to be part of this competition and working with wonderful people like Sir Prasad Pankar, Ma’am Rahila Khan and Sir Monty Sally, they are everything I could have hoped for and better because they truly do have your back and are amazing mentors.
TNV: Have you participated in pageants before this?
JG: I’ve been too afraid to participate in pageants before so no I have not because I’ve felt like I was out of the pageant norms but I’m glad I can finally be myself and take part in this, and I’m looking forward to the show.
TNV: How important winning this pageant is for you?
JG: Winning this competition will not only help me gain confidence but it’s a stepping stone towards my future in modelling and I’m looking forward to winning the crown.
TNV: Are you feeling any pressure?
JG: I’m feeling a bit of pressure because I don’t want to disappoint everyone that has had so much faith in me and everyone that’s been pushing me towards my near success.
TNV: Your biggest support in life?
JG: My mother. Having lost my father at a very young age, my mother raised 7 kids by herself and she showed me how to be a strong independent woman. The woman I am today is because of her, and I’m thankful that she has always supported and been there for me with whatever my heart is passionate about.
TNV: Any quote or saying that has profound impact on you?
JG: “What I am is an idea, a statement in blaring silence” – Januz Pavel Gonsalves (my brother that passed away in 2018)
TNV: Any message for your friends and well wishers?
JG: Yes! I like to thank everyone that’s always supported me. Especially on days that I didn’t believe in myself they’ve made me feel beautiful from the inside and out. I will always appreciate and love you.
