Miramar (Goa): The salvors of M/s AMS Marine LLC will probably give a last attempt tomorrow ~ before the next high tide in October ~ to tow the casino ship M V Lucky 7 in deep waters. It has been over a week since the salvors have been struggling to tow the vessel in Aguada bay for repairs and underwater survey, but technical snag and receding tide are hindering the operation.
“One of the three tug boats also failed during the floating exercise because of which we had to postpone it for a few days. The tide is receding because of which the vessel cannot be moved, and the next high tide is slated on October 3. However, we would make a last attempt before the next high tide, tomorrow,” said a source.
The vessel is close to the channel where it has to anchor and undergo repairs of the cracks and the hole beneath. It will also undergo underwater survey either at the same location or off Campal bay from where it will be floated to Jaigad dry dock yard in Ratnagiri for other major repairs.
“Only after the vessel is fit, it will be brought in Mandovi River after which the company owing the vessel ahs to follow various procedures to allow operations as an off-shore casino vessel,” the source revealed.
Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd has already paid over Rs 50 crore to the government for entering Mandovi River, but defying the Captain of Ports warning that it should not enter the waters during monsoon, resulted in the present crisis.
