Miramar (Goa): Four crew members from the off shore casino vessel which ran aground off Miramar beach on Aguada sand bar were rescued by Indian coast guard last night.

Indian coast guard officials stated that four crew members who were sick were rescued and then admitted to Manipal Hospital at Dona Paula, while 15 people are still on board.

Out of four people, one was severely injured while three were extremely sea sick. There are 15 crew members still on the ship but the master of the ship has said that they are okay.

The vessel which was heading towards Mandovi river from Mormugao Port Trust got stuck at Aguada sand bar. The sand bar is currently closed for any kind of navigational traffic due to the monsoon season.

This is the sixth off shore casino vessel which was supposed to enter River Mandovi. Experts claim that it would be difficult to move out the ship from that place till September.

If that ship remains grounded there, it might affect the Miramar beach. The authorities are also keeping a close watch on possibility of oil spillage from the ship.
