PUNE: The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, will be organising ‘Surgery Conference 2017’ from July 14 onwards. The conference will be inaugurated by Lt. Gen. M K Unni, PHS, Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services. Air Marshal C K Ranjan, Director and Commandant, AFMC, will deliver the welcome address.
According to Brig. S S Jaiswal, professor and HOD of surgery, AFMC, the central theme for Conference is ‘emerging trends in surgery’.
The first lecture will be delivered by guest lecturer Dr Mohammed Rehan Sayeed of The Heart Centre, Bengaluru on ‘training of future surgeons & emerging challenges and solutions’. The second lecture will be delivered guest lecturer Dr. D K Vijaykumar of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, on ‘evolving concepts in management of visceral malignancies”.
The organisers also plan to hold a cadaver dissection workshop with hands on training on exploration scheme for surgical treatment of injured internal organs and other emergency procedures in cases of trauma, a vital area of operative surgery, for resident doctors on July 14. This will allow delegates an opportunity to hone their skills outside the operation theatre.
Scientific sessions will be conducted by a number of eminent personalities including Dr Sujit Chowdhary of Apollo Hospital Delhi, Surg. Cmde. V S Bedi, NM, of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Maj. Gen. N Srinath, Senior Consultant (Surgery), Office of DGAFMS and Dr Rajesh Khullar.
A large number of delegates from Military and Civilian Institutions are expected to participate in the conference.
