Pune –
Lieutenant General Timothy Keating, Member of New Zealand Order of Merit, Chief of Defence Forces, New Zealand accompanied by Mrs Brenda Keating, his wife and a delegation of seven members visited Pune from 21 February to 22 February 2018. After brief visit to Air Force Station, Lohegaon on 21 February 2018, Lieutenant General Timothy Keating and his team visited Headquarters Southern Command and National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla on 22 February 2018.
On arrival Lieutenant General Keating and the delegation was given a brief on activities of Southern Command, after which he interacted with Lieutenant General D R Soni, Param Vishist Seva Medal, Vishist Seva Medal, Aide-De-Camp, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command. Chief of Defence Forces New Zealand then proceeded to NDA for obtaining a first hand experience on the methodology of training at NDA, which is a premiere tri- services training institute for training officers of the three Services.
Mrs Brenda Timothy Keating, wife of Lieutenant General Keating visited ‘Protsahan’, a Skill Development Centre of Southern Command which imparts training to empower the wives of the Army personnel where she was acquainted with various vocational training courses being conducted at the Centre. She also interacted with Mrs Suman Soni, Regional President Army Wives Welfare Association. After the visit to Pune, the Chief of Defence Forces of New Zealand alongwith the delegation left for Mumbai on22 February 2018.
