MAH: IT ENGINEER COMMITS SUICIDE

PUNE: A 25-year-old IT engineer, working in a city based private multi-national company, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off from fourth floor of a hotel in Viman Nagar, in the early hours of Wednesday. As per information given by the Viman Nagar police, the deceased has been identified as one Gopikrishna Goda, who hails from Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, and is survived by his parents and a sister. Police said that, at around 1.40 am, they received a call from hotel Fortune in Viman Nagar, about a youth jumping off from their hotel. When police arrived at the spot, they rushed Gopikrishna in an ambulance to a hospital, but he could not survive.

Police officials found a suicide note in the hotel room 1407, where Gopikrishna was staying, and it mentioned that he was taking the extreme step as he was scared that he would not be able to take care of his family.”In IT there is no job security. I am worried a lot about my family,” the suicide note mentioned. The suicide note also mentioned that no one should be held responsible for his death.

Police officials said that Gopikrishna started working for the MNC on July 9 and the company had made arrangements for him at the hotel which is opposite to the company. Police inspector V Sonde of Viman Nagar police station said that, before jumping off the building, Gopikrishna tried to cut his hands and there were eight injury marks on his left hand.”There was already lot of blood loss before he jumped off the hotel.” added Sonde.

Arun Verma, operations manager of the hotel, said that the security guards of the hotel alerted police about the incident and Gopikrishna was rushed to a hospital but he could not survive.

Deputy Commissioner of police Deepak Sakore said that the police are in process of investigating the cause of suicide. Viman Nagar police officials said that, Gopikrishna had worked in Delhi and Hyderabad before coming to Pune.”He was from a good family and was hired on a package of Rs 7 lakhs per annum. Till now we have not found any link which led him to think about job insecurity as mentioned in his suicide note” Viman Nagar police said.
