The Manohar Parrikar led coalition government has finally lifted the six month old recruitment ban imposed by its predecessor on the educational institutions and health sector in the first phase, within immediate effect.
The ban is been lifted for Grant-in-aid institutions, educational institutions, Goa Medical College, Dental College, Institute of Psychiatric and Human Behavior and Directorate of Health Servvices and compassionate appointment under department of personnel and Children of Freedom Fighters.
In a notification issued on April 21, the State government has said that in the first phase to eliminate delay in the recruitment process concerning academic institutions and essential medical services in the health related institutions it is decided to exempt the post from the ban.
Additional Secretary (Personnel) YM Maralkar said that the government has imposed a ban on further recruitments including the ongoing process in all its departments as well as Grant-in-aid institutions. “Now the position has been reviewed and it has been decided to lift the ban in a phased manner,” he said.
He said that in the first phase ban will be lifted for educational institutions and health sector. “In case of other departments work study and requirement analysis would be done, so as to define standards for a single requirement process for common position in government,” he said.
The ban is lifted on the posts like teaching and non-teaching as per sanctioned strength in the grant-in-aid educational institutions, teaching post in government educational institutions and in the health sector posts of doctors (teaching and non teaching), medical officers, nurses and technical staff required in the laboratories, operation theaters, etc as per the sanctioned strength.
Ahead of February 2017 general assembly elections, the then Laxmikant Parsekar government though a notification on November 22, 2016 imposed ban on all recruitment in the government sector for smoother implementation of the Seventh pay commission to its over one lakh employees- with State facing additional financial liability to the tune of Rs 47 crores every month fromJanuary 1.
