Mumbai: The maker of Marathi movie ‘Sarvanam, Pale Blue Dot’ which is the only flick in that language to make for the ‘India Story’ section of upcoming MAMI Festival revealed that the movie is shot without lights.

This year, the 19th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival will be held from 12 to 18 October.  Girish Mohite directed ‘Sarvanam, Pale Blue Dot’ is the only Marathi selection in India Story section of the festival.

“Our Director of Photography Krishna soren took a challenge to shoot this whole film without light and I believe he succeeded. I wanted this film to be seen very natural. Hence we call this film as ‘Zero Light Film,’” Mohite said, expressing happiness over selection of the film for upcoming MAMI.

“It is a great feeling. And getting selected for 19th JioMami Mumbai film festival is an icing on the cake. This moment is cherished. And being in the India Story section is a honour,” the director said.

“To be  the only Marathi Cinema in `India Story’ section is something that doesn’t happen always. Its a rare honour we feel great about it,” he said.

The movie which is shot in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur and Rajapur areas has a star cast comprising of Mangesh Desai, Dipti Dhotre, Umesh Bolke and Master Rajavardhan Desai in it.

Speaking about this film, Mohite said “every director who dreams and puts his dreams on the canvas for others to view in the form of cinema is trying to convey his feelings.” 

“He has to reach the right people to get across what he has to say. Festivals help in doing just that,” he added. 

The director says that it is  rewarding experience to showcase your work to the festival audience. “Your work gets appreciated and noticed so its important to be part of festivals,” he said.
